The answer is yes.
As the Internet continues to become more mobile friendly, and browsers change requirements; self-hosted video on your website must accommodate these ever changing standards.
You are approached by a company who has gotten word you’ve purchased a domain name or maybe they’ve found you from various business listings. They sound amazing! Making extensive promises of what they can do for your business, whether it’s building a powerfully large website with tons of functionality or getting you on the 1st page of Google in a month. They often offer guarantees; either about getting you to page one of Google within a short amount of time or creating the Millennium Falcon of websites. In your mind your thinking…it’s too good to be true, but you ignore it ‘cause you want to believe they can do miracles for you!
If you’re on the verge of opening a small business in San Diego, or you already own one; there is one important question you must first answer before taking another step. Do you have a website?
It may seem shocking, in this day and age of Internet driven business, but according to multiple website surveys (including one by Internet search company Google and research company Ipsos), 55% of small businesses don’t have a website.
Every week I am besieged by offshore companies asking for me to outsource my overflow work to them. Time and again I politely say “We need to keep the jobs here (in the United States of America), sorry.”
Business owners need to understand that using cheap overseas service providers can cost your business more than you realize. [Businessblogshub.com]
Today while socializing with friends at a Memorial Day Celebration, that topic was broached. A friend whom I am helping set up a website spoke with another fellow who said he paid $250 on Elance to have his website developed AND his other site moved to the new host. Wow! What a deal! So why wouldn’t everyone hire these peeps who are charging such great rates to setup a website? At the risk of sounding biased there are several reasons:
Many times when I am approached to build a website, the client often doesn’t have a clue of what’s in store…for them. What I mean by that is many people are under the assumption that when they hire a web developer, that they (the client) will have little else to do except give some general direction. WRONG!!! I think it would be valuable to educate the business owner about what is expected from them before they endeavor their website project.
I started developing WordPress Websites at the beginning 2008. I am amazed at the revolution that has occurred within this wonderful content management system. “WordPress? I thought that was for blogs.” I remember hearing this quite frequently back in the day.
Google often updates their algorithm as appears so by my sudden drop to page TWO of Google that I noticed today. Oh well, time to get my thinking cap on and figure out how to please the Google Upper Echelon of algorithm keepers. Still at #3 nationally for PROFESSIONAL WEB CONSULTING…Thank you Lord.
Hard work and perseverance pay off.
I am proud to say after only a week of working on getting my site BACK to the top of the SE’s (search engines) I have succeeded.
After an unfortunate detour in my life over the last 2 years, I have come full circle, in life and in work. I am grateful for the life experience-tough as it was, as it taught me more about myself than I had ever known and who the people and things are that matter most in this world.
