If you are a small business owner and entrepreneur like me, you are constantly searching for the best online resources to grow and improve your business. With the surge in popularity that podcasting has seen over the last 5 years, now it’s easier than ever to pop your earbuds in and learn valuable business, marketing and financial lessons. There are hundreds of options out there, but I want to share my list of business, online marketing and tech podcasts that you might find useful in your small business or entrepreneurial venture.
Why You Should Never Stop Learning as a Business Owner
There’s always more to learn.
No matter what industry you specialize in, there will always be more to learn about your field as new advances are made. And as a business owner, there are tons of different approaches, methodologies and tools out there that can help you improve your existing processes, be more productive or market your business differently. A savvy business owner sees the value in being open to new ways of doing things.
It’s competitive out there.
The fast pace of the internet age means that businesses don’t run like they used to. If you stick to the status quo, chances are you and your business might get left in the dust. Although I don’t disagree with the old adage “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” I do believe that if you are not continually learning and innovating, you are likely stunting the growth of your business.
The internet is always changing how we do business.
It sounds trite but technology is constantly changing the way we work, live and interact with each other. As business owners, if we don’t stay up on the latest tech and business trends and tools we are doing our businesses a disservice. Customers are more and more used to the ease of doing everything online. If you fall behind the curve, they might choose to take their business elsewhere.

StartUp
If you are intrigued by the start-up life, this podcast is for you. The StartUp podcast follows founders as they build their businesses and deal with all the struggles that come along with it. From idea to execution and beyond, the episodes give an unadulterated look at what it takes to be a tech founder in such a competitive space. Even solo-preneurs and small business owners can take away some very valuable insights.
Planet Money
The Planet Money team artfully makes economics fun! The podcast is really entertaining and each episode is about twenty minutes or less. What I like about this podcast is that you can learn about the economics behind popular (and some not-so-popular) issues like recycling, the housing crisis and even sand. The way they tell their stories makes the topic of economics approachable and interesting. It really encourages you to think differently about how our economy works.
Beyond the To-Do List
If you want to be more productive in your life and business, this weekly podcast features interviews with people who have used different productivity strategies and oftentimes failed. Their stories and struggles help to give you insight into what works, what doesn’t work, and how to tweak strategies to work best for you.
Entrepreneurs on Fire
This popular podcast is all about developing a business idea, inspiring entrepreneurs and offering practical business tips every week. The topics vary from online marketing to finance and everything in between. The podcast features really informative interviews with some of the top thought leaders today like Tony Robbins, Seth Godin and Gary Vaynerchuk. What I like the most are the actionable tips you get in each episode that you can implement in your business right away.
