As stated below, I have shown my clients how to backup and update their websites. Unfortunately time and again I get emails from clients who are so busy they haven’t had opportunities to update as they should and now their site is wacky because their host updated WordPress.
So for those clients who would rather not do the backup/updating, we are now offering this service at $90 every three months.
Many web design companies in San Diego are out to charge you a monthly fee for keeping your WordPress website updated; I am here to say that is an unethical practice, yet many people will dish out the dough. You don’t need to pay a San Diego web design company $99+ a month to update plugins and/or the base WordPress platform. This is yet another unprincipled attempt to rip off consumers who are not well versed in all things WordPress.
ACA Web Consulting will only charge you for the time it takes to update your website and perform WordPress maintenance after we analyze what needs to be accomplished. Often times these are things that you yourself, THE WEBSITE OWNER can do.
One thing I love about WordPress is how they keep on top of the security glitches and seek to create a very intuitive user experience. Thus WordPress.org updates the WordPress core platform a great deal.
Common WordPress Maintenance includes:
- Installing a backup utility that will send you your WordPress website database in a zipped file every week
- Backing up your WordPress Website
- Updating the WordPress Core as the new versions are released
- Updating any plugins that have new versions released
The other option is that I TUTOR you how to maintain your WordPress website yourself. Now how nice is that? WordPress is all about turning control back over to the website owner. I feel fortunate when I have taught my clients how to manage their own website updates and the excitement they feel over gaining the knowledge over their most valuable marketing tool.
